New features added to the website

While waiting for the never ending clouds to go away, I’ve taken some time to add some features to the website. First is a new menu section called Lodestar (Guides). This will be the place for any guidance documents and videos for how to do things astronomy and astrophotography related. I have started with an oldie but goody document on how to polar align a Meade LX200GPS telescope. This was in the archives from my first website before the POD MAX observatory was built. I still get responses from people all over about this guide. It does provide an explanation of why polar alignment is important for accurate tracking of objects in space.

Second, I have been replacing my 15 year old weather station with a new technology system from WeatherFlow. It gives weather information measured at the observatory site and is accessible using WordPress widgets (which this site uses). All weather related and moon phase information is now displayed at the footer of this site’s pages.

Hopefully you will enjoy these improvements and the improvements that follow.
